Probably the fastest growing area of law involves zoning, land use, and condemnation. Increased government regulation naturally encounters and sometimes violates the principles of a free marketplace and private property rights. Jim Scarbrough has over 20 years experience in assisting businessmen and property owners injured by government regulation.

The broad implementation of new laws and regulations governing growth has caused many property owners to suffer a lose in the value of their property either through condemnation (a taking of their land) or regulation that restricts the use of their land.

Over the years Jim has litigated against local and state government at the trial level and the appellate level. These cases have included the validity of land use regulations, the validity and application of zoning ordinances, nonconforming uses, administrative hearings, and determination of fair compensation under the state condemnation laws.
