Brian P. HayesBrian P. Hayes earned his undergraduate degrees from Campbell University located in Buies Creek, North Carolina.  He graduated in 1996 with degrees in political science and history.  His primary focus in undergraduate studies was centered on political philosophy, with studies ranging from ancient Greece to modern analytical theorists.  Following his undergraduate studies, he earned his Juris Doctorate at the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell, and graduated in 1999.  While in law school he received honors in worker’s compensation, legal remedies, law and accounting, secured transactions, commercial paper, estate taxation and real estate transactions, among others.

Brian began is legal career with a focus on real estate transactions and estate planning.  He joined the firm (then Ferguson and Scarbrough, PA) in 2000, and continued his practice in real estate and estate planning as well as corporate and contract law.  He became a partner in 2003, and presently practices in the areas of estate planning (wills, trusts, and powers of attorney), estate administration, business transactions (incorporation, and contract) elder law, and bankruptcy.  He is a member of Cabarrus County Bar association and the North Carolina Bar association, as well as Estate Planning; Elder Law; Bankruptcy; and Young Lawyers sections.

              Brian lives in Cabarrus County with his wife Beth and their son, along with an American bulldog, and West Highland Terrier.  

              When not engaged in the practice of law, Brian is often engaged in physical activities.  He holds a Sho-Dan (first degree black belt) in Shotokan karate; a Ni-Dan (second degree) in Go-ju Ryu, and has studied Aikido, Judo/Juijutsu, and Filipino styles.  He also competes in endurance races including marathons, duathlons and triathlons.  He is a Boston Marathon qualifier, and will be racing there in 2009.  In his first triathlon, a 70.3 mile half-ironman he had a first place finish in the novice division.  Academic pursuits, beyond his legal fields, include a wide array of topics ranging from philosophy to Celtic myths and legends.
