James E. Scarbrough

Jim is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971, and the University of North Carolina School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor in 1974. Mr. Scarbrough served as law clerk to Judge Robert M. Martin on the North Carolina Court of Appeals in Raleigh, North Carolina. He also served in the Office of the Attorney General of North Carolina as an Associate Attorney, and later as an Assistant Attorney General assigned to represent state agencies, primarily assigned to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, as well as serving as Special Counsel to the North Carolina Judicial Standards Commission. His principal areas of practice include Land Use Law, Commercial and Residential Real Estate, Real Estate Brokerage Law, Real Estate Litigation, General Civil Litigation, Administrative Law, North Carolina Appellate Practice, Construction Law, Municipal Law and Litigation, and Corporation Law.
Mr. Scarbrough is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association. He is also a member of the Real Property Section, Business Law Section, and Construction Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. Mr. Scarbrough is currently a North Carolina Real Estate Broker, and is certified by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission as a Real Estate Law Instructor.
